Just weeks after Playboi Carti dropped his self-titled debut, two bangers from that project have made their debuts on the Billboard Hot 100. Both "Magnolia" (at No. 91) and "wokeuplikethis*" featuring Lil Uzi Vert (at No. 100) are now among the hottest songs in North America.
The most interesting part of this is that neither song was the single that Interscope wanted to run with as the first single. Instead, "Lookin," his other collboration with Uzi, was the chosen one, but it seems that fans have sided more with "wokeuplikethis*" as the definitive pairing on the two rappers.
Social media and streaming trends have put a crimp in label's single choices before. Just a couple of months ago, data showed tracks like Drake’s "Passionfruit" and "Portland" were favored by fans over what was released prior - same thing with Future’s "Mask Off."
