It’s only been a few days since Playboi Carti released his debut studio album, Die Lit, but it’s already destined to be one of the hottest drops of the summer. Everyone from UK grime artist Skepta to Rap Queen Nicki Minaj to R&B crooner Bryson Tiller has hopped on his project, but one of the album's standouts is when Carti teams up with fellow ATL rapper, Young Nudy for "R.I.P. Fredo (Notice Me)".
Produced by Pi'erre Bourne, the track sees both rappers recall a lifestyle Fredo Santana knew all too well, before his untimely death, caused by a seizure, earlier this year. Santana’s passing sparked a wider conversation about the dangerous lifestyles that lead to many rappers turning to prescription drugs as a form of escapism. Though "Notice Me" seems like a song about living in the fast lane, it paints a morbid picture of what you gotta do to survive, by any means.
