The Steelers will be without their starting kicker in their biggest game of the season.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers take to the field on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, they will be fighting for their lives as a playoff spot is on the line. If they want any chance at making the playoffs, they need to win and hope the Cleveland Browns can pull off an upset against Baltimore. Although that task just became tougher as it was announced today that kicker Chris Boswell has been placed on the injured reserve.

According to nfl.com, Boswell's injury is undisclosed at this time. To make up for Boswell's absence, the team signed rookie kicker Matt McCrane who last played for Kansas State in the NCAA.

It's been a tough season for Boswell who is 13 for 20 this season putting him at a 65% success rate when kicking the ball. Boswell is coming off a season where he was granted a contract-extension and was selected for the Pro Bowl.

As for McCrane, he is untested in the NFL but made 57 of his 66 field goal attempts while at Kansas State. He is also the school's leading scorer with 304 total points, according to the Pittsburgh Steelers official website.
