French producer Brodinski is the rare non-hip hop entity to have touched down in the ATL scene with causing a fuss among the locals. Having already worked with/under/beside much heralded hip hop acts such as Bankroll Fresh and Johnny Cinco, Brodinski has turned his attention towards Peewee Longway, in yet another push for a shared symposium between electro house and rap.
Brodinski enlists Peewee as the musical score for his 3 minute vignette. "Split" tells a story of revenge in divisible parts: the early going in 1990's Los Angeles and the second part in a vaguely Eastern Bloc setting. The protagonist leans against his Mercedes C-Class while he awaits instruction from his direct superiors, their syndicate colors obscured by a generalized uniform: track pants and chains.
Peewee's verse consists of a long refrain where he basically appoints the lead spokesperson for Arm & Hammer. If only they knew of his nefarious activities. Longway is perfectly cast as a credulous onlooker, who would ingest his share of contraband before throwing it all away. Unfortunately fans of Peewee's will have to suspend their anticipation for his next acting role. He doesn't appear in Brodinski's movie clip, not once.
Peewee's last video for "I Can’t Get Enough" nearly knocked the wind out Leo DiCaprio's drug-addled performance in The Wolf of Wall Street. The Peewee version included a well rehearsed "nap" broken up by lifelike convulsions, which truth be told, mirrored the real live thing. SAG invitations simply don't last a lifetime.
