Maybe this is what they call karma.

Not long ago, we reported on how MTV was bringing a spiritual Jersey Shore sequel to the airwaves called Floribama Shore. That program made its debut last night and, in between drama-filled segments of sun-soaked twentysomethings doing body shots on a tiki bar, there was an announcement that, if you thought this was the end of this particular TV rebirth, will have you taking at least one extra cold shower. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the network is bringing several members of the original Jersey Shore cast back for another go-round.

Two revival series has a new title, Jersey Shore Family Vacation, and will supposedly show some of the show's anchor personalities in a fresh light. Family Vacation will feature Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. All were featured in seasons one through six of the original series, except Cortese, who was on seasons three through six.

Jersey Shore initially ran for six seasons on MTV and remains the cable network's highest-rated series of all time. The unscripted show about the Garden State's most party-hardy group of friends peaked in 2011 when it averaged 9 million viewers per episode. The series also had several spin-offs that expanded on this TV universe, including Snooki & JWoww and The Show With Vinny, and was also copied and imitated in many different markets across the world. It's safe to say that MTV is definitely trying to rekindle the Jersey Shore fever that served them well all those years ago.

The show's revival comes as MTV president Chris McCarthy has attempted to bring the network back to its birthplace and provide more upbeat programming in hopes of attracting the millennial viewer. Total Request Live has not offered up the best results thus far but, with American Idol set to return less than a year after Fox cut ties with the singing competition show, it's only a matter of time before we begin hearing rumors of The Hills or Laguna Beach making their own comebacks on the small screen.
