Would Oprah make a good president?
Oprah is one of the most powerful women in Hollywood. Scratch that. Oprah is one of the most powerful women in the world. Her power is not rooted in military strength or political influence. Her power has long come from two places, money and respect. The billion-dollar entertainment mogul stirred up presidential campaign rumors when she gave a riveting speech at last year's Golden Globes. Although she has denied wanting to gain the position in the past, in a recent interview with British Vogue, Oprah reaffirms her position on not running for president.
"In that political structure — all the non-truths, the bulls–t, the crap, the nastiness, the backhanded backroom stuff that goes on — I feel like I could not exist,” Winfrey told the magazine. “I would not be able to do it. It's not a clean business. It would kill me.” She also spoke up about the Me Too movement. "People talk about 'these are such dark times', but what if we shift the paradigm? Because I see it differently,” she stated. “I see, 'Isn't this remarkable that we're waking up?' For years, women have endured craziness. This is what's happening to people. They're allowing themselves to not just become corroded, but to become hysterical. You've got to lean to the happiness."
