After delivering an acceptance speech for the ages at last night's (January 7th) Golden Globes awards show, Oprah Winfrey has galvanized the general public after making a remark that could've been seen as a campaign rallying cry for a future Presidential campaign.
According to CNN, the television magnate's close friends have backed up this theory, revealing that the former queen of daytime TV is seriously considering throwing her name into the pool of candidates who will be vying for the Presidential ticket in 2020. What's more, the sources have also admitted that some of Winfrey's closest show business allies are "privately urging her to run," which has only made the rumor mill spin even faster this morning.
The phrase used by Oprah during her acceptance speech upon receiving the Cecil B. de Mille Award - "A new day is on the horizon" - is being interpreted as her implicit admission that she's looking at campaigning for the White House hot seat. A representative for the media mogul did not respond to the news outlet's request for comment, but that hasn't stopped others from jumping on the bandwagon and urging Oprah to put herself into that conversation. To be clear, there won't be any movement on possible Presidential candidacies for anyone until after the 2018 midterm elections, but many politicians are already jostling for position. One can only imagine the groundswell of support that Oprah would receive if she did in fact insert herself into that race.
