One of the men involved in the confusing scandal that found Jussie Smollett in the middle of an alleged hoax after he was attacked in Chicago has now won Chicago's highest honor among amateur boxers after winning a Chicago Golden Gloves championship by way of a technical knockout on Friday.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Abimbola "Abel" Osundairo, who was accused of taking payment from Smollet to stage a hate crime, won in the first round of his senior novice division fight for inexperienced fighters under 178 lbs.

Outlets that were in attendance say that Osundairo did not want to talk about anything other than his fight and subsequent win. It's only the latest in a string of fortunate events for the brothers who also experienced a high surge in their fitness business in light of the scandal. Abel and his brother Ola says that Smollet paid them $3,500 to fake a racist and homophobic attack.

Smollett was charged with 16 counts of disorderly conduct, but those charges were formally dropped against Jussie Smollett after prosecutors felt that they would not have enough evidence to prosecute Smollet for his role in the allegedly staged attack. The city of Chicago has moved forward with suing the actor and signer, however, for $130,000 in costs for the investigation that was launched.
