Beyonce will be headlining the halftime show at Superbowl 2013.
A Super Bowl XLVII affiliate reported to The Associated Press the "Single Ladies" songstress is due to take center stage at the halftime show taking place Feb. 3, 2012, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Beyonce is expected to make an official announcement on Wednesday.
Last year's acts included Madonna with guest Cee-Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, LMFAO, and M.I.A., which was seen by 3 million more people than the game itself, according to the Nielsen Co. The New York Giants won against the New England Patriots 21 to 17 in what was a highly anticipated rematch since the Giants defeated the Patriots four years ago 17 to 14.
Queen B sang the national anthem in her hometown of Houston during Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 when the New England Patriots defeated the Carolina Panthers. We could expect to see feature collaborations with the Grammy-winner at the Pepsi Haftime Show which will most likely include rapper-hubby Jay-Z, Kanye West or former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michele Williams.
This is the first NFL championship to be hosted in New Orleans since the 2002 Superbowl following Hurricane Katrina's devastating rampage through parts of Louisiana Superdome in 2005. Pepsi Co. has signed on as returning sponsor for the halftime show since Prince last performed in 2007.
