The Bay Area rapper OMB Peezy has dropped six singles to prove why we gotta keep an eye on his come-up. The 20-year-old rapper has teamed up with acclaimed producer, Cardo (who has worked with Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott and Jeezy) to drop a project that proves what he's all about; a progressive young rapper that stands out from the upcoming crew in terms of his sound and lyric narrative.
A standout track is the first single titled "Talk My Shit" featuring SOB x RBE‘s Yhung TO. The two rap about the come-up and turning down record deals if they ain't paying enough.
Peezy's previous release, "Doin Bad" featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again, that was dropped last month is still a prominent tune. The piano-driven production has the two rappers complimenting each other in a true way, reflecting about their home streets of Mobile, Alabama and Sacramento, California.
Don't nobody love you when you doin bad
They forget about the times you had
Aint nobody gon’ hold you down like you thats a fact
Time to move borders, stop looking back
In a recent interview with XXL Mag, Peezy says he's not trying to make "mumble rap" he's trying to rap about real things that happen in life adding that he wants to make an impact on hip-hop as a whole.
“I want to change hip-hop back to hip-hop, not just mumble rap. Niggas don’t even be talking about shit. Niggas don’t be saying nothing. A video man could be trying to edit your video and don’t know what the fuck to do with the concept because you ain’t even talking about shit. Niggas just gon’ move the cameras a couple times and point it to the sky and put some effects on that muthafucka and your video done in two days," he says.
“I’m trying to change it back to some shit that means something. Muthafuckas’ grandma is sick and shit, niggas got people dying and shit, niggas don’t want to listen to no mumble rap.”
