We just gave him a little time, he's going to be fine," was New York Giants' coach Pat Shurmur message to the media concerning OBJ's availability this Sunday. Unfortunately, Friday's prediction has fallen short of expectation, as team doctors have ruled Odell Beckham Jr. ineligible to compete on Sunday against the Washington Redskins, because of a bruised quad injury.

The team relayed their announcement to ESPN on Saturday just in time for Odell to skip the team's flight out of New York state. The injury in question first came to light during this week's episode of the Facebook docuseries I Am More: OBJ. In the same episode where he mentions spending $300k a year to maintain his build, Odell also opened mentioned that he picked up the quad injury on the final drive of the Philadelphia Eagles game in Week 12.

A platoon of Bennie Fowler, Russell Shepard, and Corey Coleman will be expected to carry the "receiving" load in OBJ's absence. On the positive side, tight end Evan Engram is expected back in the lineup after missing the last two with a hamstring injury. Beckham has 77 catches for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns through 13 weeks of NFL action. At 4-8, the Giants would be better off conserving OBJ until further notice.
