Octavia Spencer has been killing it for awhile, but her success in the last two years has finally placed her on a stage worthy of her talent. While she has played pivotal roles in the blockbusters The Shape of Water, Hidden Figures, Zootopia, and The Help, Spencer also featured in Fruitvale Station, Get on Up, and Insurgent. According to Variety, now she will star in her own series that has been ordered by Apple. 

The series, called Are You Sleeping, is based on the novel of the same name by Kathleen Barber. The show will focus on the world's obsession with crime-drama television. It dives deep into the relation of such dramas, that reveal how authorities solve crimes. More specifically, it questions how that information may affect the world, and how that information can be used by the public. Cases that are still unsolved or ongoing receive extensive press, tv series, and podcast coverage the dives into sensitive information. The series was created by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and Chernin Entertainment/Endeavor Content. 

Nichelle Tramble Spellmanm, who brought the world The Good Wife, created Are You Sleeping and is the showrunner. Apple ordered 10 episodes, which have yet to receive a release date.
