"It's an 808s & Heartbreak kinda day" raps Toronto rapper Nue on his new track "Alaska." Judging by the glossy melodicism of the track, he sounds like someone who grew up on that era of Kanye. However, it's far from the only influence he namedrops on the track. "I got my hair all flowing out just like I'm Max B / Do my Sosa on the beat," he quips, throwing in a Keef ad-lib for good measure. Nue takes all the catchiest and dreamiest elements of those three artists and turns it into something entirely new. His hook is unshakeably sticky, and the underlying guitar textures only help highlight it's sunny, light-hearted appeal. This one should play well in the summer.
