Outside of Skepta, Novelist is probably the most hyped grime artist out right now, at least in North America. He's gained a couple valuable co-signs, rumored to be starring in a short film with ASAP Rocky that's on its way. On his new record, "WAR," he also shouts out Drake, someone who can certainly make careers, and a rapper who's been referenced on grime records before (his famous "truss mi daddy" Instagram clip was all over Skepta's breakthrough, "Shutdown".
Elsewhere, Novelist rides a flow that wouldn't be out of place on Dizzee Rascal's debut, an album that still sounds futuristic despite being over 10 years old. Look out for big things from Novelist this year.
