Nicki Minaj speaks on current trending topics such as her "Flawless" remix, Remy Ma's release from prison and more.
Nicki Minaj has had the internets topsy-turvy the past two weeks, what with her "Anaconda" artwork, which was followed by "Anaconda" memes, followed by a leaked version of the track, followed by rumors of a "Flawless" remix, followed by the official "Anaconda" record...you get the idea. Now that we have the CDQ of "Anaconda" plus the remix of Beyonce's "Flawless," Nicki Minaj hopped on the phone with Hot 97 this morning to discuss all such topics.
Speaking on her first collaboration with Beyonce, and how it didn't happen sooner, she said, "When I was putting out mixtape I would always remix her stuff. But I figured that eventually we would do something together. I'm not gunna lie, recently I thought it would never happen, cause I felt like if she was gunna ask me she woulda been asked me. I think the stars just aligned the right way, we're just in the right places in our career that it makes sense now. With the release of her last album her records are kinda geared to what I do now, so it is what it is."
Ebro asked Nicki about the possibility of her doing collaboration with recently-freed fellow New York female MC, Remy Ma.
"Yeah I told you guys before Remy even came home, I would love too," Nicki responded. "I was a fan of hers before she went to jail and nothing has changed. I've always felt like she was at the top of her game in relation to all the MCs in the game I always felt like she was sitting near the top. So we'll see, I'm not closing that off, I feel like we'll get the right thing and do it for the people."
Finally Nicki spoke on the plethora of "Anaconda" memes, and which ones were her favorite. "Umm, I saw Kermit the Frog posing yesterday, I was like no they didn't. No they didn't. I saw a lot of them but that one was one of them that stuck out," she said.
