Despite being one of the more recognizable hip-hop figures in the game, Nicki Minaj has managed to avoid the public eye with the finesse of Waldo. Rumors have been circling that she simply indulged in a hibernation of sorts; after all, New York has recently been faced with snow storms worthy of Canada. Now that spring is upon us, it appears that Nicki has emerged, groundhog-esque, to continue her business as usual. Though her absence was lamented by the so-called "barbz," their fearless leader's return seems to coincide with the impending release of Cardi B's Invasion Of Privacy. Read into that what you will.

Evidently, Nicki Minaj has been spotted in the all-black ensemble, dipping out of the Los Angeles International Airport. It has been pointed out that this is merely her third public appearance in 2018. For somebody as prolific as Ms. Minaj, that's an impressive feat. Perhaps she has been holed up in the studio working on her anticipated album. Again, we don't know much about Nicki's upcoming project, but it would appear that expectations are high. Fans have found themselves caught up in the "there-can-only-be-one" clash of queens narrative, and have set themselves on pitting Nicki and Cardi against one another.

While perhaps that makes for an entertaining back-and-forth a la Kane and Undertaker, one can only hope that Nicki has been pouring her heart and soul into her new album. Perhaps this disappearance has been for the best, and when she comes back with a vengeance, we'll realize how much we missed her in the first place.
