Those who have been following Meek Mill's seemingly never-ending legal woes are well familiar with Judge Genece Brinkley. Having emerged as somewhat of an Everest in human form for the Philadelphia rapper, Brinkley has been clinging to the case with every ounce of strength she has. Though aspersions have been cast on her character by Meek's camp, her resolve has remained firm; it wouldn't be surprising to see her stick this one out till the end. While the idea of Meek Mill's fate resting in Brinkley's hands sends shivers down those who know "Dreams And Nightmares" by heart, the Judges' alleged ruthless and unyielding persona has been questioned by none other than Nicki Minaj.
Speaking to Elle, Minaj revisits some earlier comments she made regarding Judge Brinkley, in which she refused to "bad mouth" the judge. In this recent conversation, Minaj doubles down on her unwillingness to talk smack, given that every comment she makes will be on record. While the interviewer originally expects Minaj to move on, Nicki continues to reminisce about her experiences with Brinkley, painting the judge in a surprisingly flattering light.
“I know that when I went there pleading for his freedom, I know that [Judge Brinkley] spoke to me and was very sweet and maternal, and we both cried in her chambers, and she gave him another chance,” says Nicki. “So I don’t know what’s going on.” Nicki's confusion seems to contradict statements from Meek and his lawyer, which indicated that she witnessed Judge Brinkley asking Meek to rerecord a version of Boyz 2 Men's “On Bended Knee.”
