So far Lady Gaga, Omarion, and Chance The Rapper have apologized for previously collaborating with R. Kelly when they knew of his sexual misconduct allegations but simply turned a blind eye. The latest to share a statement on the matter is Nick Cannon, who teamed with R. Kelly for the 2003 song "Gigolo."
Nick shared a clip of the music video on Instagram with a detailed caption explaining how he will no longer stay silent when it comes to the mistreatment of women in an industry that has allowed it for years.
"After much self-reflection and meditation, I have to be one of the first to admit that in my past I’ve DEFINITELY turned a blind eye to a lot of darkness in this industry," he wrote. "Let’s stop beating around the bush and call it what it is. This entire industry was established and built by evil and predatorily spirits and male chauvinistic behavior."
Nick detailed how women have been treated like "second class citizens" for far too long and it's about time that it stops. "Please consider an advocate, ally and student that needs guidance in an industry that was designed to take advantage of women. Let’s change it ALL immediately. And call it all to the table for our ignorance, wrong doings and disrespect. I apologize my Queens," he added.
