We break down the essentials for Fantasy Football in week two.
Isn’t it ridiculous how you spent weeks preparing for your draft? You joined mock drafts, you researched rookies and you read blogs. Then Week 1 arrives and everything is in disarray. David Johnson is out with a dislocated wrist for several months and Danny Woodhead injured his hamstring. Tom Brady doesn’t throw a touchdown and a Patriots running back scored three touchdowns. The entire Bengals offense was scoreless. The Rams destroyed the Colts, and both Dalvin Cook and Kareem Hunt ran for more yards than Ezekiel Elliott. At this point, you're probably scrambling, looking around to strengthen your roster, unless you’re some kind of draft god. You wouldn’t be here if that were the case, so I’m here to help. Here are my top picks for week 2:
*picks based on PPR scoring
QB’s to start:
- Carson Palmer VS the Colts
In week 1, Jared Goff scorched the Colts for 306 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions. Expect Palmer to have a career day.
- Philip Rivers VS the Dolphins
Rivers is facing a weak Miami secondary after putting up 192 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Broncos last week. Lock him in.
- Aaron Rodgers VS the Falcons
The Falcons pass defense is horrendous. Remember the SuperBowl?
Bust: Kirk Cousins
Streamer: Jared Goff
RB’s to start:
- Kareem Hunt VS the Eagles
In week 1 Hunt had 3 Touchdowns, 148 rushing yards, and 98 receiving yards. ‘Nuff Said.
- Melvin Gordon VS the Dolphins
I have little faith in Miami’s defense, and Gordon’s high volume gives him a high ceiling this week.
- Dalvin Cook VS the Steelers
Cook and Kareem Hunt will spend the rest of the season battling for Rookie of the Year. Lock in this talented first year RB.
Bust: Lamar Miller
Streamer: Andre Ellington/ Kerwynn Williams/ Tarik Cohen
WR’s to start:
Fastest ballcarriers in Week 1, per NFL #NextGenStats— Eric Edholm (@Eric_Edholm) September 12, 2017
1. Kareem Hunt
2. Tyreek Hill
3. Jeremy Maclin
4. T. Benjamin
5. & 6. Dalvin Cook
- Brandin Cooks VS the Saints
Tom Brady and Cooks struggled to find a rhythm in Week 1, but that won’t last long. Expect Cooks to torch his former team.
- Stefon Diggs VS the Steelers
The clear top option in Minnesota will light up the Steelers this week. Volume alone gives this wide out a high ceiling.
- Tyreek Hill VS the Eagles
Hill was the fastest wide out in the league week 1, and nobody on the Eagles is going to slow him down. Expect him to have another amazing week.
Bust: Dez Bryant
Streamer: Kenny Golladay/ Cooper Kupp/ Adam Thielen
TE’s to Start:
- Charles Clay VS the Panthers
Tyrod Taylor and Clay have great chemistry. If you’re still sleeping on Clay, this week will wake you up.
- Jimmy Graham VS the 49ers
Ignore his horrible season opener and lock in Graham against a team he excelled against last season.
- Coby Fleener VS the Patriots
Willie Snead is still suspended, meaning increased production for Fleener. He only has a 25% ownership in ESPN leagues and 49% ownership in Yahoo leagues. Scoop him up
Bust: Tyler Eifert
Streamer: Evan Engram/ Zach Miller
IDP to Start:
- J.J. Watt VS the Bengals
Andy Dalton looked liked a dead man last week. Watt will deliver Top 3 fantasy points this week.
- CJ Mosley VS the Browns
Mosley killed it in Week 1, logging 8 tackles and an interception. He will destroy Cleveland.
- Trey Flowers VS the Saints
Flowers was a powerhouse for the Patriots in Week 1, and he faces a much better matchup this week.
Bust: Ryan Shazier
Streamer: Danielle Hunter/ Landon Collins
D/ST to start:
- The Ravens VS the Browns
Start anyone against the Browns ever.
- The Seahawks VS the 49ers
The Panthers almost shut out the 49ers last week. Seattle is going to have a field day.
- The Rams VS the Redskins
The Rams did well against the Colts, and the Redskins gave up a ton of turnovers last week.
Streamer: Titans/ Raiders
