Last week, Jay-Z signed New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith to Roc Nation Sports. Before that, he'd signed New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz and popular women's basketball player Skylar Diggins.

Doubt has surrounded both Roc Nation and Hov's NFLPA certification since the beginning. Now, as reported by HipHopDX, it seems the NFL Players Association will be investigating his involvement in Smith's recruitment, after the quarterback posted a picture of himself with Jay-Z on Instagram during his recruitment process. There's a rule in place prohibiting agents from having friends or colleagues who aren't NFLPA-certified present during recruiting meetings.

The union plans to interrogate Roc Nation Sports agent Kim Miale to obtain further information. John Thornton, Smith's adviser, was quoted by CBS as saying "I was in those meetings, and Jay-Z connected with him on many levels." He later claimed he was misquoted.

At this point, there's no telling what will happen if Jay is found in violation of the rule. Stay tuned for updates.
