The New York Giants have just announced the firing of head coach Ben McAdoo, as well as the team's GM Jerry Reese, less than one week after the duo decided to bench two-time Super Bowl MVP, Eli Manning, in favor of Geno Smith.

The Giants lost yesterday's game to the Raiders, 24-17, which puts them at 2-10 on the season.

According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, the team had already decided to fire McAdoo and Reese after the season but they expedited the process following backlash they received in wake of the decision to sit Eli.

This was McAdoo's second season as Giants head coach. Jerry Reese, on the other hand, has been with the Giants organization in a number of different roles since 1994, serving as general manager since 2007.

With McAdoo and Reese out of town, there's a belief that Eli Manning could be back under center for the Giants next weekend when they take on the division rival Cowboys. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will be the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
