Telling a fan to STFU will cost KD $25K.
Golden State Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for "directing inappropriate language towards a fan" at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas over the weekend.
The incident occurred with 1:01 remaining in the first quarter of the Warriors' 112-109 loss to the Mavericks on Saturday night, when Durant approached the heckler seated on the baseline and told them point blank, "Watch the fucking game and shut the fuck up." It's unknown what was said to KD that provoked his harsh response.
The Warriors are just 1-4 in their last five games dating back to last week's overtime loss to the Los Angeles Clippers in which Durant and Draymond Green got into a nasty argument. Draymond was ultimately suspended for one-game as a result, but has since been sidelined for what the team is describing as a toe injury.
On top of that, two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry has not played since November 8 due to a strained groin and he did not travel on the team's recent Texas road trip. According to the Warriors' press release, he is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Saturday, November 24.
Despite all of the issues both on and off the court, Golden State is still sitting at 12-6 for the year as they prepare for a four-game home stand that kicks off on Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
