First-week sales for Nas' "Magic" are here.

Sales figures for Nas and Hit-Boy's newest album, Magic, are here. Over the first week since being released, the project moved 22k copies, landing it in the top 30 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The album was released on December 24, 2021, through Mass Appeal Records and is the third consecutive album by Nas that is produced by Hit-Boy. The first two albums, King's Disease and King's Disease II, were dropped in 2020 and 2021 respectfully. It also features appearances from A$AP Rocky & DJ Premier.

22k sales is respectable considering Nas only announced the album one day before it was released. Regardless, it is still down from Nas' King's Disease II, which moved 56,000 equivalent album units in its first week.

"MAGIC is in the air. Midnight et brand new music to vibe to," Nas wrote on Instagram, December 23. "Wow!!!"

Throughout Magic, Nas references other heavy-hitters in the music industry. On “Wu for the Children,” Nas compares himself, Jay-Z, and The Notorious B.I.G. to J. Cole, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar.

"Me, Jay, and Frank White is like Cole, Drizzy, and Kenny," he raps.

He also honors the late Virgil Abloh and Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and more at the end of the track.

He released it independently so of course the powers that be ain’t gonna push it. 22,000x 10= 220000 and he and hit boy gets most of the profits. More then your favorite artist. This style of rap will always be in.

FIX SOUNDSCAN. These metrics haven’t made sense since Drake “smashed” Beatles records with one of his most forgettable albums. People trying to do the math on these numbers are doing empty arithmetic. All of that aside, Magic is a top 5 album of the year and more than makes up for the uninspired “KD2.”

The album dropped the same day it was announced, and did 22k that Is a W

These Nas fans are funny as fuck. MGK sold 26k on a surprise EP and everyone said he got murdered by Eminem. But Nas sells 22k and its good lol

How much is MGK paying you to run his fan club?

This album was MID

Steve ALMIGHTY

Mid? So you weren’t listening or you’re too young to appreciate the gems, stories, and references? This is nearly on the same level as Lost Tapes right now. Listen more closely.

I guess Drake and Kanye albums are better because they sold more. Yeah right! Nas, Magic album is pure fire! The music is industry and new generation of fans are trash! They like Cardi B and Megan Stallion… Complete joke!!!!

Belmont Cragin
- Jan 3, 2022

The numbers don't translate to how good the album is by the way. The album is fire

Aaron9

Nas wins Cassie profit most of it and did no promotion or music videos for it yet

Cory Brown
- Jan 3, 2022

I bet if he had used that auto tunes 💩 he'd sold 10 times as much. Can't believe computer or computerized any & everything is now taking over voices too.

Doomsday
- Jan 3, 2022

Yeah pretty much. It's sad to see

So you realize that the MILLIONS that listened u Nas 20 years ago are STILL ALIVE to buy his music right? So wtf does that tell you? They just don't feel him anymore. He's boring

Steve ALMIGHTY
- Jan 4, 2022

@Triple OG (The Real OG) 🖕 FineArt AOTY🖕 : Right, because nothing in the music industry has changed in the last 30 years to impact how well records perform commercially. There’s plenty of literature to support how the proverbial well dried that made the paydays of the mid-90s practically obsolete.

1 day before the album actually dropped. If Most were like me, they didn't find out untill the actual release date. I got off work madevit home nout 12, cut on my tv, & got online & it was the first thing I saw. & Ive never not known when a Nas album was bout to drop. First time for everything.

It's not about the album sales for Nas, when he goes on tour fans will definitely come out and support.

I dont think at this point in his career that Nas is going for sales numbers

Doja Cat 🐱
- Jan 3, 2022

True! It’s all about trap beats right now

Dub EN
- Jan 3, 2022

This was only 9 tracks and one day of promo. His last full length project with proper promo did 56 k which is better than a lot of “poppin” artists now.

Makaveli The Don
- Jan 3, 2022

@ryan..... It's not rap it's hip hop, maybe that's why you're confused.

ryanrace323221
- Jan 3, 2022

@Makaveli The Don : what you mean? Rap and hip hop same thing fr bro. It don’t matter lil durk raps trap raps but he still considered hip hop. Hey I ain mad at y’all, make any excuse as to why his album only sold 22,000 copies . I’ll help y’all. I liked it too so there’s thAt. I’m just speaking facts

Makaveli The Don
- Jan 3, 2022

@ryanrace323221 : Rap and hip hop are not the same thing rap is just an element of hip hop. I'm not mad at you, make any excuse to defend your ignorance on the culture. Lil Durk is a rapper not an MC, but you'll probably try to tell me those are the same things too.

BuckNasty 2.0
- Jan 3, 2022

@ryanrace, rap and hip hop are definitely not the same damn thing and the fact you don’t understand that speaks volumes about the current state of artists making music today smh. Nas ain’t out here rapping about robbing and shooting his opps every song and holding guns in his music videos while saying ad libs with basic ass lyrics talking about the same shit every song or crooning with auto tune, that’s simple ass rap. Hip hop has roots and is about stories and music that you can listen to any damn where not some shit you can’t play in public or around kids bc it’s nothing but robbing and killing

ryanrace323221
- Jan 3, 2022

@BuckNasty 2.0 : so your gon tell me someone like cordae is hip hop and not rap?? That’ makes zero sense bro

ryanrace323221
- Jan 3, 2022

What juicey j then in your book? He talks all that ish but wouldn’t you consider him rap? Per your hypothesis @ryanrace323221 :

ryanrace323221
- Jan 3, 2022

@BuckNasty 2.0 correction; wouldn’t you consider him hip hop?

Don Mega
- Jan 3, 2022

What you're hearing is what Mastering the Art form and what it sounds like. Rap was built off of that style. The mumbling and auto tune you're accustomed to is what it evolved into. Lyrics and Boom Bap beats will always reign supreme over those silly formats. You should listen and gain some knowledge from what his message is from the records.

Voice of Reason
- Jan 3, 2022

@FulaDC8 : nah I just don't think Nas is putting numbers up like that anymore. I like him but he's just not selling that high at this point. Also I had no idea it was coming out. I don't think it's the powers that be I got a notification on my Spotify that's the only way I found out.

You Gotta Relax
- Jan 4, 2022

@FulaDC8 : Nas always be going in but him and Hit Boy are not a match

Steve ALMIGHTY
- Jan 4, 2022

@You Gotta Relax : If I’m reading this correctly, I agree 100%. Magic is the first evidence that Hit-Boy can actually work with Nas’s style - everything else he’s done for Nas has been so paint-by-numbers and devoid of real feeling.
