After releasing his interview with Lil Yachty this morning, Nardwuar the Human Serviette unexpectedly released a video of much greater consequence: an interview he did with James Brown from 1999.
This isn't strictly hip hop. But seeing as James Brown is the Godfather of Soul, and there would be no hip hop as we know it without him. we had to post.
Brown was 66 years old at the time. Nardwuar was a sprightly 31. He goes easier on Brown than he does with his usual interviewees. For example, he doesn't open the interview with his standard question, "Who are you?" If he had, Brown might have ended the interview before it started.
He does, however, hit him with the "doot-doola-doot-doo" at the end.
