It's that time of the year, all! MTV's annual Video Music Awards is taking place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey with Sebastian Maniscalco serving as the evening's host. It's another big year for hip-hop, although the two artists with the most nominations are more hip-hop adjacent than rappers themselves. Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X lead the award show with nine and eight nominations, respectively. They'll be going neck-and-neck in the Video Of The Year Category, Best New Artist, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Editing.
For Video Of The Year category, the two will also be going up against 21 Savage and J. Cole's "a lot," Ariana Grande's "thank u, next," Jonas Brothers Sucker, and Taylor Swift's "You Need To Calm Down."
In terms of performances for the evening -- because that's the main reason why anyone watches -- Megan Thee Stallion will be performing during the pre-show while the actual ceremony will include performances from Bad Bunny, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, H.E.R., Normani, Ozuna, and Big Sean and A$AP Ferg who will be performing their new single that drops at midnight. Additionally, Missy Elliot will be hitting the stage as well as a joint performance by Queen Latifah, Naught By Nature, Redman, Fetty Wap, and Wyclef Jean.
