Nev Schulman, the host and executive producer of MTV's popular reality series Catfish, is the latest notable public figure to be accused of sexual misconduct. Ayissha Morgan, who once appeared on the series back in 2015, alleges that Schulman made inappropriate remarks, inquired whether she was bisexual (she identifies as a lesbian) while also berating her with requests to join him in a jacuzzi.
As a result, the network has decided to temporarily suspend production on Catfish in order to investigate Morgan's claims fully. "We take these allegations very seriously," reveals a spokesperson for MTV. "We're working with Critical Content, our third-party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation, and we've put a pause on shooting until the investigation is completed."
Schulman spoke with The Hollywood Reporter to denounce the allegations. "The behavior described in this video did not happen and I’m fortunate that there are a number of former colleagues who were present during this time period who are willing to speak up with the truth. I have always been transparent about my life and would always take responsibility for my actions – but these claims are false."
Catfish began airing on MTV back in 2012, which manifested itself as a televisual adaptation of the 2010 documentary of the same name that depicted Schulman's own experience with fraudulent online dating.
