R&B singer Monica is filing for divorce from husband Shannon Brown, whom many of you might remember as Kobe Bryant's high-flying teammate for a brief period of time in the 2000s. Although her divorce plans are seemingly new to the public, she did, drop a mega-hit at the top of the month, in an Instagram post where she insinuated a certain "preparedness" to be alone.
"When you stand for something, You don’t mind sitting alone," she stated, as her followers persisted on the other elements in the post, spelling out a successful trip to New Orleans.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Monica actually filed for divorce papers earlier this month, all in jest, because the court wound up siding with Shannon Brown during a summoned hearing. "The couple" currently share in the responsibilities of their 5-year-old daughter Laiyah, while also handling the custody and care of the two sons she bore in a previous relationship with rapper Rocko.
As clearly depicted in the above Instagram post, Monica hasn't been wearing her wedding band for some time now. The couple tied the knot in 2010, then sought a legal separation in 2018, until reneging on the decision shortly thereafter - all leading up to this very point. Monica's most telling contribution to the rumor mill occurred in 2016 when she inferred that her husband performed better on the court on the days they engaged in sexual intercourse.
