Back in November, the hip-hop community caught wind that one of their own would kind would be inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The time has come for Missy Elliott to receive her official nod after months of anticipation. Missy Elliott will be joined by Elton John, Cat Stevens, Jack Tempchin, Tom T. Hall, Dallas Austin, and several others, in reaching the holy summit on her own two feet.

Missy celebrated the convocation in a Twitter post made out the other honorees and their respective "bodies of work." While the induction has been made official as of this writing, an actual ceremony will be held on June 13 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, which allows for her loved ones to share in the moment "physically."

So in theory, Missy is only at the 20-yard line, facing an imminent touchdown, which doesn't preclude her from marking the accomplishment on her resume - making her the 2nd hip-hopper EVER in the 50 years to be inducted into the "Songwriters Hall of Fame," and the first female rapper EVER, on top of that. Jay-Z holds the distinction of going in first, back in 2017. The hip-hop wash over only just began taking effect.
