Rising rapper Mick Jenkins invited versatile jazz trio BADBADNOTGOOD for “On The Map,” a cover of a The Sensei Blue track of the same name.

“On The Map” is a definite moment of experimentation for Mick Jenkins, who isn’t much of a singer but manages to make the song song with some smooth falsetto backing vocals to balance out his gritty baritone. BADBADNOTGOOD adds depth to the already funky instrumental, while Jenkins adds a verse to the original lyrics.

It’s not clear what the affiliation is (if any) between the Chicago rapper and The Sensei Blue, but the track originally blew up on YouTube for its silly video and wavy beat, and Jenkins was clearly feeling it.

Quotable Lyrics

Where she wanna go? how much dope we gon' need to float?
show me on the map, where you at? Where you tryna go?
we can spin the globe, we can do Madrid and Milan, end at Monaco
All I wanna know, where you from?
