Mick Jenkins looks to have the sequel to "The Mickstape" dropping sometime this month.
Rising Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins revealed that he had plans to release not just one, but two new projects before the year ended, but unfortunately nothing has ever come to fruition since he first announced this back in March. However, it finally looks like we might be in business as Mick appears to have a new mixtape on the way reportedly dropping this month.
Last week, Mick hopped on twitter and said that “lotta new music on the way,” but at that point all that was, was just another tweet as we have nothing to show for it still, but further evidence suggests that he’s got a full tape coming soon. On Wednesday morning, Mick jumped on Instagram Live and shared a couple previews and tracklist to Another Mickstape, the follow up to his 2012 offering The Mickstape.
DJ Booth reports that during the livestream, Mick said the tape would be dropping sometime this month, which means it'll be here within two weeks. From what we can see on the screenshot of the IG story (below), the tape will include 9 songs in total and feature guest appearances from Saba, Sean Deaux, and Greensllime. Of the 9 songs, there appears to be titles such as “Small Circle,” “German Chocolate,” “Energies,” “Vampire In Brooklyn, “U Turn,” & “Rags” to name a few.
When a fan asked Jenkins on Twitter whether or not the upcoming tape will sound like The Waters Mick or The Healing Component Mick, he responded with “DEES,” whatever that means. So guess we’ll have to sit back and wait to see what he’s got in store for us.
The last thing we’ve heard from Mick musically was on this Summer’s “Layover” release & Spring’s “The Water” with Joey Badass. As for his projects, Mick last dropped off The Healing Component last September, but thankfully we won’t have to wait much longer for a new one.
Check out the tweet & IG screen shot (below), and keep your eyes peeled for Another Mickstape to be dropping very soon. Who's excited to hear some new Mick Jenkins?
