Michelle Williams has been very open about her battle with depression that led her to check into a mental health facility back in July. “I didn’t know until I was in my thirties what was going on," she said at the time. "I just thought it was growing pains. I’ve been suffering since the age of between 13 and 15. At that age, I didn’t know what to call it.”

In a new interview with PEOPLE, the former Destiny's Child member opens about recent battles and how during her Coachella rehearsals with her girl group she was battling with her mental health more than ever. “The entire year we were rehearsing every day for hours,” she told the publication. “I was burying it, and before you knew it, I was looking up out of the pit like, ‘Oh my God.'” Michelle further explained how she never attempted suicide but she was "was questioning [life]."

Unknown to many, Michelle ended her engagement to Chad Johnson when she was in her dark place, but he didn't leave her side for one minute. “I would’ve understood [if he left],” she added. “He’s been praying for a wife. He didn’t pray for a depressed wife.”

She added: “People fall off the fitness wagon, people fall of the wellness wagon, but I can’t fall off the [therapy] wagon. I have to get healed to live this happy life. It’s not just about marrying Chad. I finally found someone to do life with.”

Chad and Michelle will share more on their relationship on OWN's upcoming series, Chad Loves Michelle.
