Michael Uzowuru is a Southern California producer who has lent his instrumental experiments to the likes of Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples, and Domo Genesis, but one of his most successful collaborators has been Vic Mensa. Contributing two beats to the Chicago rapper's INNANETAPE project, as well as his more recent single, "Major Payne".

"April 13th" is yet another collab from Uzowuru and Vic, though this time billed under the former's name. The meditative track uses live instrumentation, almost sounding like a jazz fusion or post-rock track at times before a distinctly hip hop drum beat drops in the song's final third. Vic compliments the instrumental with for a primarily sung delivery.

Quotable Lyrics:
I woke up in a butterfly's cocoon
Covered in cosmic dust
Fell down from the heavens
When I held up my hand to hell
In God we trust
