About 20-30 minutes west of Atlanta, depending on how the traffic is feeling that day, sits Douglasville—a suburb of the Greater Atlanta area and one of the many surrounding areas of the city that double as home for the next generation of new voices coming out of the southern hotbed.
Its latest product arrives in the form of Fool’s Gold signee Hugo Joe, who now arrives with his collaborative EP with producer Mexiko Dro, appropriately titled Hugo Dro.
MexikoDro is best recognized for the signature “Plug!” tag heard at the beginning of notable tracks from names like MadeInTYO, Playboi Carti, Yung Bans and Nebu Kiniza on his breakout “Gassed Up” single.
Considering such a catalog, it’s no wonder that his backdrops and Hugo Joe’s fun-loving delivery work in perfect harmony to bring us Hugo Dro.
“We really took our time on this," tells Complex of the new drop. "We recorded a plethora of tunes together but we wanted to keep it short and to the point […] In between us recording this me and Mexiko both went to jail back to back. After I was released he went in and after he was released I went in, which also had something to do with why it took us so long to put it out, but I'm glad that it's finally out for our fans and supporters to listen and enjoy!"
