Mel of The Outfit TX continues his solo grind with the new "How Ya Like That" video.
2016 was a huge year for the Dallas rap trio known as The Outfit TX. They honed in on their aesthetic, expertly blending their far-reaching genre influences -- from trap to punk rock -- into their spooky signature Texan club sound. Green Lights: Everythang Goin' was widely touted by the blogs as one of the year’s hottest underground tapes. Before spilling the details on their next project, Mel -- the group’s most gregarious member -- has been trying out his solo chops.
After sharing the Freeband Hunter-produced “Phone Line” earlier this week, Mel has shared a new track, “How Ya Like That,” as well as an accompanying video, via a HNHH premiere. Over a gothic trap beat (shit's booming), Mel rattles off smooth but forceful bars, delivered with his usual sinister charm. Shot by Dance Dailey, the “How Ya Like That” video finds him bringing the new leaders of the D-Town rap scene, including his group members, to Fairfax Ave. in L.A.
