McDonald's has introduced a savvy new modification to their menu this week. Although it's surprising that they haven't thought to do this in the past, they've added bacon to three of the most classic McDonald's menu items: the Big Mac, the Quarter Pounder and, possibly the best thing about McDonald's when all is said and done, the fries.

Although the Ronald and the gang have introduced other variations on the "loaded" fry like the Quebec-specific poutine ("un délice d'ici!"), the addition of cheese and bacon is not really location-specific and so, could become an international mainstay of the menu, whether you're enjoying it with the coke in New Jersey, or a beer in Brussels.

The marketing team behind the rollout of this new topping is channelling an erstwhile internet obsession over bacon that sounds a bit dated, even if the food itself looks delicious. McDonald's manager of Culinary Innovation, Michael Haracz, used the "bacon-strips" style of address when promoting the new food: “as a bacon enthusiast myself, I’m proud to say that we’ve done right by bacon fans.”

The McDonald's Twitter is also insisting upon the fact that "the best things in life start with bacon:"
