Matt Barnes Turns Himself Into NYPD Over Nightclub Brawl

Barnes booked for misdemeanor assault.

Sacramento Kings forward Matt Barnes surrendered to the NYPD today and was booked for his role in a brawl at Avenue Nightclub in Manhattan back in December, according to the New York Post.

Barnes reportedly turned himself in at the 10th Precinct station house and was given a desk appearance ticket for misdemeanor assault, but was released without bail. He will have to appear in a Manhattan court at a later date.

He's accused of choking a woman at the nightclub and then punching her boyfriend at the club shortly after he and the Kings suffered a loss to the Knicks on December 4th. 

Barnes didn't talk to reporters after being released but has maintained leading up to today's events. His lawyer, Alex Spiro, issued the following statement.

“We deny the allegations and will answer in court.”
