Local law enforcement have yet to confirm the casualty rate of a shooting incident in Jacksonville, Florida. Footage shows two individuals playing a competitive game of Madden, when gunshots suddenly start to ring off in the background and the game disconnects. The individual matchup was part of a highly competitive eSports tournament organized by the game developers called the "Madden Championship Series." An audio file depicting people writhing in pain after the gunfire comes to a head was made available because the event was being livestreamed on Twitch.

News of the attack was broken by Twitch streamer Kyrie Curry who wrote, "Oh my god someone just shot up the Jacksonville madden tournament. This is unreal I hope everyone is okay." A subsequent state of emergency was then posted by Jacksonville's Police Department on Twitter: Oh my god someone just shot up the Jacksonville madden tournament. This is unreal I hope everyone is okay." They also ushered a commitment to help members of the public too fraught to leave their hiding places following the gunfire.

At least one suspect has been pronounced dead at the scene, while authorities have declared a second might be on the run. "SWAT is doing a methodical search" to seek out any remaining suspects and help secure misplaced individuals.
