Following the release of his Almost Time project in the later part of 2016, Mark Steele has been pretty quiet as of late.
But in the spirit of breaking the silence and positive energy, the North Carolina emcee and 9th Wonder mentee has returned with his latest offering in the form of his "Good Time" single.
Flexing some new chops, Mark juxtaposes his signature flow with a sing-songy hook as he waxes, "That's the business/Put me on the guest list/And you know I'm down to have a good time/Someone pass a bottle/So I can tap the bottom/Cause tonight I'm down to have a good time."
Backed by production from David D'Angelo and Riot, "Good Time" arrives as a bouncy anthem ahead of his forthcoming and appropriately-titled album, It's Been A Minute.
Steele's namesake may be familiar as the artist behind the track "Greatness" which was on constant replay over at ESPN's Sports Center 2 years ago. The young rapper's first introduction to the sports network came in 2014 when his "Not Like Y'all" dominated March Madness that year.
Last year's Almost Time was a strong offering that received nods from the likes of Ebro Darden and Dr. Dre on their respective Beats 1 broadcasts.
Mark Steele has long proven his range since his emergence, packing his lyricism into properly-executed bangers, and "Good Time" is no exception to this skill set.
Bottle popping; Liquor flowing
Might just catch a wave tonight
Feeling like the head coach
Bet I make a play tonight
No stress tonight, tell it goodbye
We’ve been only having good vibes
