TMZ strongly believes Mac Miller's new single "Self Care" has nothing to do with Ariane Grande since it was seemingly written before their split. Nobody, including tabloids like TMZ, want to see Mac Miller suffer. We don't know with exactitude what happened between Ariana and Mac which led to their breakup, and how long it metabolized. All we know for certain is that within weeks of cutting him off, Ariane Grande was engaged to a comedic actor. Any notion of a vacuum state felt a lot less uncertain with all the PDA we have borne witness.
Mac Miller raps:

One thing's for certain: it does seem genuine for someone to harbor this sentiment and release it to the world unless they were undergoing a breakup. As a doodler myself, I see no reason to "novelize" short-lived feelings, especially if I were living under ever-evolving conditions. Of course creativity and experience are not mutually assured, and more often than not, epiphany strikes when you least expect it.
