In a bittersweet turn, an artist's death can often play a role in boosting their popularity, as fans eagerly revisit entire catalogs in an attempt to reconnect. As Mac Miller sadly passed away in 2018, listening to his earlier work has become rather difficult -- especially given how his formative tapes are so full of joie de vivre and youthful exuberance. Nowhere was that clearer than on K.I.D.S, a tape that emerged as Mac was starting to gain attention, and a far cry from the darker material he'd later go on to explore.

Not long ago, the now-classic mixtape was finally released on official streaming services for the first time, prompting a renewed interest in the 2010 project. So much so that the tape managed to slide onto the Billboard 200 charts, clocking in at number 112. Not bad, considering the tape celebrated its tenth birthday at the end of April, and a testament to the loyalty of Mac Miller's day one fanbase.

Should you be interested in ensuring it maintains, or even improves its position, be sure to give K.I.D.S a listen below. Though only a select few would name it as one of Mac's best works, it's hard not to cite it among his most important -- consider that following its release, Mac found himself embarking on the first tour of his career, which went on to sell out every date. Rest in peace to one of the game's most daring songwriters, who constantly sought to elevate his artistry.
