Mac Miller Honored With Moment Of Silence By Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates paid tribute to a Pittsburgh legend.

It's been over a week since Mac Miller passed away from an apparent overdose. After the news broke out, social media timelines were filled with tributes from his peers, friends and fans. Last night, the Pittsburgh Pirates honored the late rapper with a moment of silence ahead of their game.

The Pittsburgh Pirates honored Mac Miller before their game on Monday with a tribute video that was aired on the PNC Park jumbotron. The team, including Starling Marte and Colin Moran, held a moment of silence for the fellow Pittsburgh native that passed away earlier this month.

"Mac was a rapper, a singer, a producer and had a very bright future in the industry ahead of him," a voiceover said through the park's speakers. "Locally, Mac is remembered as a hometown kid who sang about our city where his heart clearly remained. Our thoughts are with his parents, his grandmother and all of his family and friends who mourn his passing."

James Conner of the Pittsburgh Steelers also paid tribute to Mac Miller recently. Conner took to Twitter to reveal his custom Mac Miller cleats that read, "Thank You Mac" on them.

Lil Skies, another PA native, also paid tribute to Mac Miller during his set at Rolling Loud in Oakland this past weekend. The rapper performed Mac Miller's 2011 hit, "Donald Trump" during his set.
