There's quite a bit of repetition in the game these days, and specific bars are often overlooked (with the exception of anything ever uttered by Drake). This is an opportunity to take a closer listen and really consider what these artists have to say. We encourage your opinions.

Keep in mind, these are the most noteworthy lyrics of the week, not necessarily the best. Also, it's hard to get everything right - if you notice any errors, don't hesitate to let us know in the comments section. Lines we're not quite sure about will be bolded.

Most Popular: 2 Chainz ft. Drake & Lil Wayne - I Do It

Lyrics Of The Week: August 30 - September 5

No surprise here. The words to 2 Chainz' "I Do It" were by far the most popular of the week, thanks to features from Drake and Lil Wayne. This is probably the biggest track from Tity Boi's upcoming B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time album, which hits iTunes on September 10th.

Lyrically speaking, there's nothing particularly remarkable here. These three emcees are among the most successful rappers on the planet, and their successes aren't quite as engaging as their struggles were. This track's about the star power, plain and simple.

Thoughts?

[Excerpt: 2 Chainz]

Get that sack, already, man, we've got them racks already
As for your girl, I hit it from the back already
I tried to get a tan, but I'm black already
Your pockets on a diet, my pockets fat already

[Excerpt: Drake]

Drank in my cup, hold up, hope this shit don't spill
Pull up in a new edition and that's word to Johnny Gill
How I come up with this shit and all these verses that I kill?
I have no imagination, everything I do for real

[Excerpt: Lil Wayne]

I'm colder than a hospital, she love the dick that I give her
Hit her from the front, back, side - twist her like cigarillos
I put the gun to the pillow, I don't want blood on my clothes
Gotta keep that Trukfit fresh, shout-out to all of my hoes

Best Wordplay: Lil Wayne ft. Chance The Rapper

Lyrics Of The Week: August 30 - September 5

2.) Best Wordplay: Lil Wayne ft. Chance The Rapper - You Song

A standout cut from Lil Wayne and DJ Drama's new Dedication 5 mixtape, with a surprise feature from Chicago's Chance The Rapper. We won't say Chance outshines Weezy on the track, necessarily, but it certainly wouldn't be the same without him. Both emcees offer their quirky perspective on love and relationships with candid, colorful wordplay.

The track samples an a capella of Michael Jackson’s "The Way You Make Me Feel", and is one of the only original songs on the project. Can you dig it?

[Excerpt: Chance The Rapper]

You feel like Kool-Aid in a wine glass with your fine ass
You fine as two grapes gettin' stomped out by a giant cask
You the best dressed with ya breasts showin'
Like a salad, no dress on, take ya to ya favorite restaurant
Ask for the bread then fuck in the restroom
They don't ask for a pass when your ass waltz in my dressing room
You the best bride and I'm the best groom
Wedding presents got my best man
At the Best Buy buyin' the Best of Fresh Prince for the bedroom
I'mma buy a summer house, with a rec room
And a car with no backseat and some leg room

[Excerpt: Lil Wayne]

Then she got serious, she said "Tune I gotta ask you something
Do you really love me?" I tried to change the subject
So I said some crazy shit to her like: "What if you and I were just letters?
That'd be unfortunate, we'd have to rob a fortune teller
But I swear I think I love you, fingers crossed in my pocket
Okay that's a dead subject, you bring it up, that's a zombie
You remind me of... my memory ain't what it used to be"
She said she ain't trippin', I know, because I move my feet
And when she figures out that she's been swindled
I'll be cleaning that love bird shit off my window
I love you too...

Most Provocative: Lil Wayne - Pure Colombia

Lyrics Of The Week: August 30 - September 5

"I done lost a couple hoes, but I'm still a pimp / This change of face on my Rollie, shout-out Lil Kim."

Because of Chance The Rapper's strong, almost overshadowing presence on "You Song", we decided to give Weezy his props individually as well, just to be fair. "Pure Columbia" was one of the most popular tracks from Dedication 5, and Wayne undoubtedly goes in, provoking his adversaries and taking an unveiled shot at Lil Kim (and possibly others). This is that raw uncut, as they say.

Thoughts on the track? What's your favorite cut from D5?

[Verse 1]
I can't trust these niggas, throw some water on 'em
They tell me "Go to Hell" - okay, I know the owner
Strip clubs gettin' old, all the strippers hoein'
All these bitches think they dimes, watch me flip a coin
Thank you Jesus, my dawgs is off the leashes
Had to leave my Spanish bitch 'cause she was startin' to get suspicious
Tell the beef I mean business - suit and tie, nigga
You and all your dawgs could get euthanized, nigga
Trigger happy nigga, I just can’t stop smilin'
Thank God I’m fly, I had to thank my pilot
You think you callin' shots, you've got the wrong number
I love Benjamin Franklin more than his own mother
Throw that pussy... throw that pussy
And I don’t want no throwback pussy
Man, fuck these pussy-ass niggas
I lay back and ash Swishers, my new shoes is ass-kickers
She drink cum like she had hiccups - rest In Peace to my last victim
We be passin' blunts, they be passing judgement
Five blunts of that strong, call that strength in numbers
AK’s with Chiquitas, you shell-shocked like Adidas
Whoever finds your body, finders keepers, yeah
It’s that pure Colombia...
'Cause soon as the bitch tasted it, her tongue was numb
It’s loaded, so I just let her jump the gun
This that Dedication 5 and another one, I love it!

Best Storytelling: Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Deeper

Lyrics Of The Week: August 30 - September 5

The title track from Freddie Gibbs and Madlib's 2013 upcoming "Deeper" EP is an intimate and vividly described love story from the autobiography of Gangsta Gibbs. Focussing on a longstanding but futile relationship, he reminisces on the pros and cons and the struggle to make it work.

Although Gibbs does display sentimentality on the track, he maintains his reputation as one of rap's coldest. Can you relate?

[Verse 3]
I love her and she love him, so I never touch him
She's got his baby in the oven, so it's motherfuck him
Ain't trippin 'cause you got a nigga, I just think you rushin'
But leavin' him to be with me ain't part of our discussion
Plus I'm on the road now, different color hoes now
Laid back on the dope, I'm gettin' dollars off my shows now
Bitches wanna tie me down, but I ain't in that mode now
Five years later, why you callin' up my phone now?
Well bitch, how'd you get the number?
Like every other month I'm switchin' up that motherfucker
Back on the bus I used to finger fuck her, singin' Usher
Down on my luck, and then she upped and left me for a sucker
I reminisce on all the crazy shit we did
You and me forever, shit we say when we was kids
She say I'm havin' problems and I pray that he forgive
When he find out the baby ain't his, that cut a nigga deep
(Damn... what the fuck?)
(So, what you tryna to say, baby?
(The baby ain't his?)
(Who's is it?)

Most Reflective: 50 Cent ft. Skylar Grey - Warning You

Lyrics Of The Week: August 30 - September 5

The latest from 50 Cent, featuring Skylar Grey and produced by Alex Da Kid. Fifty reflects on his come-up throughout the track, making a case for his relevancy and insisting he's not finished in this game. Never one to put things lightly, he warns fans not to turn their back on him, taking a Mic Tyson approach on the ad-libs.

Thoughts on this? Who's still fucking with Fif?

[Verse 1: 50 Cent]
December 9, '97 I told Jay I'm gon' blow
Failing's not an option, my son's turnin' twenty-one years old
I wrote a verse about the night I just spent in central bookings
Cause my grandpapa's coffee pot had cocaine cookin'
Fast forward my grind - 9-8-'99
More H, more Os, broke into nickels and dimes
I told niggas I'd make it, they was doubtin' me then
Picture me zonin' on a park bench pushin' my pen
Who needs enemies? My friends keep shootin' my friends
They takin' hits now, they'll blow your brains out for a Benz
Call me a dreamer, 'cause I could see myself on top
Word to Sabrina, I'm gettin' my ass off this block

Best Freestyle: Rocky Fresh - Self Made 3 Freestyle

Lyrics Of The Week: August 30 - September 5

Rockie Fresh dropped this freestyle over Mos Def's "Mathematics" instrumental in promotion of MMG's upcoming Self Made Vol. 3 compilation, which drops on September 17th.

The term "freestyle" is used far too loosely these days, but this definitely sounds like the real thing, and we feel Rockie deserves his props. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he shows a real respect for the craft. This track probably won't end up on the compilation, but it should.

Thoughts?

[Excerpt]

You know I'm only found workin', never found hatin'
Never found thirsty, I'm only found patient
My building looks different simply through the foundation
And every time I drop then you know it's groundbreakin'
I mean the way I'm comin' up is just so insane
Yesterday a nigga read a book while I was gettin' brain
My knowledge is like the homie went to college
Rappers don't want no problems, they know I'm quick to solve 'em
I walk up in this bitch with my Pumas
Real quiet is how I'm known to move through rumors
These niggas that wanna run with me got no legs
Gotta handle all my bars, they can't even ride on the pegs

Most Braggadocios: Rick Ross ft. Future - No G

Lyrics Of The Week: August 30 - September 5

7.) Most Braggadocios: Rick Ross ft. Future - No Games

"Kilo in the kitchen, pussy niggas - merry christmas." -Rick Ross

The first single from Rick Ross' upcoming studio album "Mastermind". Lyrically speaking, there's not much to be said here - Rozay and Future Pluto assert their dominance over a menacing instrumental from the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, comparing themselves to Tony Montana and assuring us all that their hedonistic lifestyle is no joke.

This is as braggadocios as it gets.

[Verse 2: Rick Ross]
Can’t play no games with these lames, I’m gettin' money like Tony
Three chains on my neck, these bitches brushin' up on it
Hundred grand on my watch, you don’t feel me, then fuck 'em
If he playin' with work, we either feed him or touch him
I play no games with these hoes, get a ticket a show
Feds follow a nigga like it’s a brick at the show
VIP chopper - Rollie be matchin'
Hoes know we fuckin', so they don’t even ask him
I play no games at the bar, all I see is Ciroc
Three bottles of Diddy, three hoes in the car
No love for these skeezers, we party and fuck 'em
Every day is a party, so every day we like "fuck' 'em"

No Comment: Meek Mill - Kendrick You Next (Cassidy Diss)

Lyrics Of The Week: August 30 - September 5

On September 5th, Meek Mill took direct shots at rival Philly emcee Cassidy on this freestyle medley, a prelude to the intro to his upcoming mixtape "Dreamchasers 3", which will apparently take aim at Kendrick Lamar. He flows over Tupac's "Hit 'Em Up", Nas' "Ether" and 50 Cent's "Wanksta", all infamous diss tracks.

We'll leave the commentary on this one up to all of you. Stay tuned for next Friday’s Lyrics of the Week, folks, and thanks for joining the discussion.

[Excerpt]

First off, fucked your bitch, nigga, get a blood test
You a upset nigga, where the love at?
When we talkin' 'bout Philly, know I fuckin' run that
Same place I've been, them corners, you can never come back
You a fraud nigga, ball like I'm Chrissy Paul, nigga
I cross niggas, when you hate it, when you lost, nigga
You soft nigga, then you disrespect a boss, nigga
You dissin' to get you on, that'll get you off, nigga

[Excerpt]

Now beat it, I know you're heated but I know you need it
I got that Justin Bieber, please believe it, nigga I know you see it
They play pianos at your viewing, let Alicia key it
I asked Swizzy "Could She Do It?", he said "nigga, beat it"
Swizz don't fuck with you, Melo didn't either
You fucked that check up, you bit the hand that feed ya
And you was 6 feet, you got me diggin' deeper
Hold up, let's switch the beat so I can spit some Ether

[Excerpt]

Damn homie... in high school you was the man, homie
The fuck happened to you?
You had a doghouse with a doghouse in the backyard
Now you livin' in a doghouse in the backyard
Nigga, I was broke then, now I've got a black card
Your career's maxed out, your shit like a mac card
Easy nigga, I talk greasy nigga
And I'mma stunt on Instagram just to tease you, nigga
