If you've been following our site, you'd know that we're fans of Lil West, who continues to evolve as an artist as he explores a more emotional blend of hip-hop. His recent collaborations with Distance Decay, nothing, nowhere, and Judge have found the young rapper deviating into territory previously explored by the late Lil Peep - emo-rap. With influence from acts like Brand New, and even a little bit of The Postal Service, Lil West favours vulnerable lyrics exploring love, lust, and sexuality.

Today, he teams up with Lewis Grant for "How Could I Know," a stripped-down cut produced by Dylan Brady. It's not "SoundCloud rap" as you know it; the song moves in sections, climaxing in a crescendo of vocoder-driven vocals and low-key percussion. It might not be your thing, but if you're looking for something outside the box, look no further than "Make Me Scared Again."

Quotable Lyrics

The n***as that said they were killin' me
I knew that they wasn't as big as me
I don't think I need no more enemies
