Lil Wayne is finally getting ready to release his long-awaited album, Tha Carter V. The rapper kicked off the campaign last week after the project's cover art was revealed by Young Money. Now, Weezy will be honored with the "I Am Hip Hop" award at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards.

BET is set to honor Lil Wayne with the "I Am Hip Hop" award next month at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards. Considering Wayne's accomplishments throughout his 20+ year career in the game, both critically and commercially, he's without a doubt a perfect candidate for the award. Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IIhelped him launch into one of the biggest superstars in the world. He's received five Grammys throughout his career and undoubtedly helped carry Cash Money Records for years.

Lil Wayne's The Dedication 6: Reloaded is also nominated for a BET Hip Hop Award for the Best Mixtape category.

The award show will be returning to Miami for a second year in a row with DeRay David holding down hosting duties. Drake's currently in the lead with 11 nominations. Cardi B follows with 10.

After Tha Carter V's cover art was revealed, his long-awaited collaboration with Swizz Beatz, "Pistol On My Side" was released on Friday. Swizz also released the single alongside a music video.

There's been speculation that Tha Carter V will drop this Friday, but it's yet to be confirmed. Hopefully, we could finally hear the long-awaited Weezy album soon.
