The FIRE EMOJI playlist is in constant flux, tantamount to the rate at which hot music is delivered weekly, no more so than in 2018. This edition is a comeback week for some, like Kevin Gates, who garners not one, but two new adds in our "seasoned" playlist. His singles "Money Long," and "Great Man" make up the balance of his duality as an entrepreneur and a person of faith. With that being said, it was pretty hard to leave one out for the other. We simply went with both.
Another big story this week was the reemergence of Lil Wayne on Swizz Beatz' "Pistol On My Side." The song had become fodder for Birdman's alleged repression of Wayne, and one some level, rumors of Swizzy's greatly exaggerated demise, in spite of where the truth lies. Now that we know that "Pistol On My Side" is something more than a pipe dream, we can rest assured that Carter V will follow suit, as promised.
The other person of interest on this week's FIRE EMOJI playlist is recent jailbreakKodak Black. Following his sentence, the Florida rapper promised to set aside all his distractions, the club dates, the Instagram models, to which he swore to fill with plenty of studio sessions, the likes of which produced his most recent collaboration with Bruno Mars and Gucci Mane, "Wake Up In The Sky."
