Earlier this week, Lil Uzi Vert tweeted out a message in support of the now-departed Lil Peep after the 21-year old died of what is suspected to be a drug overdose. "We would love 2 stop," he wrote. "But do you really care cause we been on xanax all fucking year."

"Rip buddy I 100% understand and I don't fault u," he went on to add.

Six hours later after tweeting this, Uzi would soon deal out another revelation. "Sober 2 day I have been shaking," he penned later in the evening. "I have been cursing my love ones out and fighting. In the studio with no thoughts in my head. Teeth biting down because I just wanna be angry at something ... Maybe I will just smoke weed tonight."

If this is the inception of a clean slate for Uzi, more power to him. He's certainly not the only member of the Hip-Hop community to speak in support and love for Lil Peep while also playing a part in the conversation of drug use in music—specifically Hip-Hop.

The controversy surrounding Lil Peep's death, outside of such an untimely circumstance, is that the rapper was on social media moments before as he was seen consuming pills he said were Xanax. According to Lil Peep, he'd taken six pills. Soon after, video would surface on a friend's page of the rapper who, at the time seemed unconscious. We would later learn that Lil Peep was deceased in the disturbing and heartbreaking clip.

Since his death, the discussion on drug culture within Hip-Hop and its surrounding environment has been at an all-time high with various opinions flying about. According to reports, the Xanax pills consumed by Peep, born Gustav Åhr, were allegedly laced with another fatal substance which was the ultimate cause of death.

“We have heard there was some sort of substance he did not expect to be involved in the substance he was taking,” Lil Peep's brother, Oskar, recently revealed in an interview. “He thought he could take what he did, but he had been given something and he didn’t realize what it was.”
