Making your own way can be difficult in the rap game, as Lil Uzi Vert has found out this week.
After being criticized by several big names, Uzi took to Instagram to post a defiant photo as a response. Sporting an upside-down cross, which is a reference to the Offset-Sahbabii tiff from a few days ago, Lil Uzi captioned the picture with "My universe ❤️2🔥." A pretty innocuous statement, but an additional comment is where things get really interesting.
The rapper goes on to say that, "When was the last time you had a disagreement about religion or beliefs [...] I really ain't feelin the mainstream s*** no more, too many rules ..." While his religious pendant and reference to it ignited from strong sentiments elsewhere in the comments for the post, it's clear that Uzi is focused solely on blazing his own trail, on his own terms.
