For better or worse, Lil Pump's "Gucci Gang" has proven to be one of 2017's definitive songs; with a two-minute run-time well-suited to today's "everything now" generation, the carefree, hedonistic lyricism have proven surprisingly resonant. The song has spawned memes, parodies, impromptu parking lot performances and more, elbowing its way into pop culture with all the no-fucks-given personality of the artist behind it. Say what you will about "Gucci Gang," but it did something right. The Recording Industry Academy of America has confirmed that Pump's breakout single has officially gone platinum, as of Jan. 11, 2018.

The milestone marks Pump's first (and probably not last) platinum certification. The single originated from Pump's eponymous debut, which dropped back in August on Warner Bros Records. Recently, Pump's recording contract with Warner fell through, as he originally signed the deal while underage. Now, the Florida rapper is a free agent, reportedly fielding offers from many eager parties - including Gucci Mane. While there's no word on whether he has another "Gucci Gang" on his hands, it's likely that Pump is only getting started. In fact, his brand new Carnage produced banger "I Shyne" has already been garnering traction.

Right now, Lil Pump seems positioned for a big year. In fact, the young rapper has a collaborative mixtape with Lil Yachty in the pipeline, which should be dropping in the near future. Congrats to Lil Pump for his first platinum plaque.
