Before he blew up, Lil Pump was gleefully causing ruckus in his local Wal Mart, terrorizing employees with his brash, cock persona. Now, after amassing millions of Soundcloud streams on songs like "D Rose," "Molly," and "Flex Like Ouu," one of the most divisive rappers in a generation of, well, divisive rappers, has returned with a new track. The song, titled "Gucci Gang," is produced by bighead & gnealz, who lace Pump with his signature distorted production, which is especially evident in the percussion. This time, however, the instrumental features a clear semblance of melody, in the form of an eerie piano melody.

It's not much, but it's a glimmer of hope for those who see Pump's potential, and wonder if he might be well suited over a more fleshed out beat. In fact, the vibe of this song is somewhat reminiscent to some of Mac Miller's work, with the comparison most evident in the rapper's shared cadence. While Mac is obviously more lyrical, and a more well rounded artist in general, Lil Pump's work on "Gucci Gang" evokes a timeline in which Mac Miller succumbed to his once-legendary drug use.

While the majority of this song centers around the words "Gucci Gang" being repeated like a pagan mantra, there are times where Pump shows moments of evolution; whether you love him or hate him, you can't deny he has a bit of swagger about him. When he's actually trying to kick a flow, you can actually hear the moments of potential buried beneath all the drugs. Yet for now, Pump seems hampered by his dependence on substances, and while he may enjoy being a recreational drug user, he'll never find artistic longevity if they remain his sole lyrical focus.

Quotable Lyrics

Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang,
Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang,

(just kidding)

Bitch your breath smell like some cigarettes
I'd rather fuck a bitch from the projects
They kicked me out the plane off a percocet
Now Lil Pump fly a private jet
