When you're the owner of the number one song in the country, you can justifiably go on your merry way without caring about anybody's critique. There are clearly a large number of people messing with your song so if a few people don't like it, you can just brush it off. That's the mentality that Lil Nas X has right now. His hit single "Old Town Road" has been a surprising success, helping the previously-unknown artist reach the top of the Billboard chart and finally dethroning the ever-popular NBA YoungBoy on the YouTube streaming charts. When Dave East said he thinks "Old Town Road" is "wack," LNX took that in one ear and it went right out of the other. Why you ask? Because he's got the number one song in the country.

During an interview on the Zach Sang Show, Lil Nas X spoke about the criticism he's faced for his country-laced banger, brushing it all off. When asked about the Dave East situation, Nas X told the hosts that he doesn't even care at this point. "I honestly have gotten this question so many times, it's like, I have the No. 1 song in the country," explained the artist. "I do not give a fuck about what Dave East is saying."

His comments could easily be misinterpreted as a diss but it feels like he means no ill will towards the New York spitter. Lil Nas X is just doing his thing and obviously, there are more folks that like the track than dislike it so he's doing something right.
